Browsing through one of my favorite eco-blogs, Inhabitat, the other day, I ran into a great article called "Your Analog TV is dead, Repurpose it into something fun!"

The article gives us some great ideas as how to use that old analog as a way to create a unique piece of art/furniture/storage that makes a statement!

So here's my challenge to you: If you don't already have an old "useless" analog television, check out the selection we've got going on Kashless. Now get that creativity flowing, and do something different!  (Or take inspirations from one of the ideas on Inhabitat, that fish tank is rad!)
Here at Kashless we're all about recycling and re-use, so naturally we are huge fans of stores and organizations like Goodwill, Second Use, ReStore, and others.  While all of these companies have their own unique positive aspects, something that they all have in common is that there are certain items that they do not accept as donations.

We just wanted to remind you that here at Kashless we accept EVERYTHING!  So whatever you've got, post it on the site and there's somebody out there who might want it!

Below you'll find a list of items that aren't accepted at some local re-use companies. Next time you want to give away one of the items below, log onto Kashless and see how easy it is!

PICK UP IN ORTING

Do you love someone named Eric?

Or perhaps you ARE Eric, and quite vain? Either way, you know you want this awesome sweatshirt that I bought in some kind of crazed state while with my ex-husband (that would be Eric). Yes, I actually wore it in public. Oh shut up. I know I'm a dork (wait, make that WAS a dork!) Since I no longer love (or even like) Eric, I have no need for this ridiculous piece of clothing.

The sweatshirt is a nice thick good quality garment, nice and roomy
(sz XXL) and warm. The only problems with this sweatshirt are that it
says "I Heart Eric" and it has some kind of stain on the front of it. I
have no idea what it is, and don't recall how it got there. It looks
like dirt. Maybe it will come off.

"Gently" Used Boxer Shorts

I've got a couple of pair of boxes laying around the house I'm trying to get rid of. One pair has two holes in the crotch and substantial wear around the elastic waist band area. The other pair have a few holes and some small speckles of white paint. Nothing a little stitching, cleaning and TLC couldn't fix. I've recently washed them, and they smell delicious.

I'll probably throw them out unless someone wants to swing by and pick them up - I'll even deliver if you're in the area

Kashless is happy to announce the three WINNERS of last week's contest. (See KASHLESS CONTEST post below.)

And the winners are . . . .

  • Gretchen Harmon
Gretchen is from West Seattle/Westwood.  When asked "What is your favorite thing about Kashless?" she responded, "I have a few favorite things about using Kashless.org. I love that I can save searches and Kashless will look for those key words in postings on Craigslist and email me when they show it. I love that I can post to multiple sites through Kashless with just a couple of clicks. And I LOVE the search features: by neighborhood, distance, keyword."

  • Joyce Arthur
Joyce is from Federal Way.  When asked "What is your favirite thing about Kashless?" she responded,  "I enjoy using Kashless because it is easy to search and locate what I need in my neighborhood. And, by using the free searches, Kashless alerts me when the item I am searching for is posted."

  • Joe Van Dyk

Thanks to everybody who participated by creating saved searches this week.  Keep your eyes peeled for another contest coming up soon, and keep having fun going Kashless!

sustainable design, green design, eco friendly office furniture, naomi dean, recycled furniture design, recycled materials

UK-based furniture designer Naomi Dean takes used, unwanted office furniture that would most likely have found its way to the landfill soon, and recycles the materials to create modern, eco-friendly furniture.

"Office furniture often gets sent to die in a dark, damp landfill, where it remains for much longer than we care to admit. It tends to be cheap, molded, made from particle board and sometimes includes formaldehyde. Since we can't unmake these items, the next best thing is to recycle them into useful pieces of eco-furniture just like Naomi Dean does." - Bridgette Steffen, Inhabitat.com

This article reminded me of all of the ways materials can be re-used to create current, relevant items that can continue to provide beauty and functionality to your every day life. Next time I see an old wooden desk or a pile of bricks up for grabs on Kashless I'm going to think twice about its value and how I could use the materials that may be old and used to somebody else to create something new and exciting for me or someone I know.
